Two world records and an European mark fell at the FINA World Cup in Eindhoven

EINDHOVEN - Two world records and an European mark fell at the FINA World Cup in Eindhoven on a short-course, yesterday.

Hungary's Katinka Hosszu twice broke the world record in the women's 200 metres individual medley touching in 2:03.20. In the heats she swam 2:04.39, 0.21 seconds off the record set by Julia Smith of USA, in Manchester on December 2009.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo of The Netherlands won the women's 50 metres freestyle in a new record time of 23.24, shaving 0.01 off the world mark set by compatriot Marleen Veldhuis at the 2008 Worlds in Manchester.

Finally, Fabio Scozzoli broke the European mark for the men's 50m breaststroke. The race was won by South Africa's Roland Schoeman, with Italian Scozzoli second in 25.88, 0.23 off his previous record that he set at the short-course Nationals in 2011.
