Olympic Champion Ruta Meilutyte has set two European records at Mare Nostrum Trophy

Olympic Champion Ruta Meilutyte has set a couple of European records at Mare Nostrum Trophy.

Yesterday in Barcelona, the 16-year-old Lithuanian won the 50 metres breaststroke in 29.96 seconds. The former record was held by Russian Yuliya Efimova with 30.09, after she won gold at the 2009 Worlds in Rome.

Meilutyte also set the 100m breast European mark in Monte Carlo on Saturday winning with the time of 1:05.20.
The Plymouth College student shaved 0.01s from her previous record that she set in the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in London.
