Matteo Rivolta set a couple of new national record in the 100 metres butterfly at the Italian Championships in Riccione

Matteo Rivolta set a new national record in the 100 metres butterfly at the Italian Championships in Riccione on Wednesday.

Rivolta, 21-year-old who won bronze in this event at the 2012 Europeans (behind Cavic and Cseh) won the national title in 51.70 (split 24.19) the first time in the world ranking this year.

"I didn't expect to swim so fast in the morning. Although it is not a great time, I guess I am working well and in sight of the Worlds where I apsire to compete in the final" Rivolta said this morning after he set the first record, swimming in 52.06.
