LIMA - New meeting records were set on the first day of action in Lima, Peru.

Fumiya Hidaka (JPN), 17, claimed the 400m freestyle in 3:50.97, 0.84sec inside the championship record set by Russian Danila Izotov (RUS) in 2008.

The 4:43.49 championship record set by Dagny Knutson (USA) over 400m medley in 2008 fell to Miyu Otsuka (JPN) in heats. The 17-year-old then clocked 4:40.98 to claim the crown.

USA wins the 4X200m relay and set a new competition record twice: 8:03.83 in prelimins and 8:00.33 to win gold.
