SHANGHAI - Ryan Lochte beat Michael Phelps by 0.16 seconds with a World-record time in the latest challenge at the world swimming championships in Shaghai tonight.
The US swimmer lowered his own mark in the 200 metres individual medley final, touching in 1:54.00 (0.10 seconds better than his time from 2009).
Phelps was second in 1:54.16, a personal best, while third was Hungary's Laszlo Cseh in 1:57.69.
