1998-11-12

Gary Hall the two time US Olympic Medallist from Atlanta has been given a 3 month suspension by the FINA anti-doping committee. Hall had tested positive for marijuana use. FINA had considered handing down a 2 year suspension, which could have hurt his chances for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. He has already served his 3 month suspension.

A fellow American Swimmer, Suzanne Black who also tested positive for cannabinoids, was likewise handed a 3 month suspension by the FINA committee. Suzanne was the winner of the 1,500 freestyle at the World University Games in 1997.
