Esther Williams, nicknamed the Hollywood's Mermaid has died yesterday in Beverly Hills

Esther Williams, the Hollywood's Mermaid, has died yesterday in Beverly Hills. She was 91.

Williams was born in Inglewood (Los Angeles) on August 8, 1921. She was a competitive swimmer as part of the Los Angeles Athletic Club and she set a couple of world marks.

Since she didn't attend the 1940 Games because of World War II, she left comeptitive swimming and became an actress.
