Romain Beraud of France won the first race of the 2013 FINA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup in Santos (Brazil) on Sunday in a time of 2h02:26.01.
Italians Federico Vanelli (2h02:28.22) and Matteo Furlan (2h02:30.10) was second and third respectively.
Emily Brunemann of United States won the female contest in 2h11:18.04. Teammate Eva Fabian was second with 2h11:48.06 and Rachele Bruni of Italy third in 2h11:50.12.
The next race of the Trophy will be held in Viedma (ARG) on February 2.
Italy’s Simone Ercoli emerged from a competitive field to win the 15km FINA Marathon in Rosario (Argentina) for the 2013 Grand Prix, in 1h51:03.
Fellow-countryman Mario Sanzullo took silver in 1h51:08.20 finishing ahead of Argentina's Guillermo Bertola, who clocked 1h51:08.76.
Esther Nunez of Spain won gold in the women's event registering a time of 1h58:38.
Karla Sitic from Croatia won the silver in 2h01:14 and Russian Olga Kozydub secured the bronze in a time of 2h01:16.
The second race of the Gran Prix will be Santa Fe-Coronda (ARG) on February the 3rd.
