ANGERS - Camille Muffat of France broke the women's 800 metres freestyle world record in the heats at the short-course national championships on Thursday.

The 23-year-old from Nice, clocked 8:01.06 to beat the 8:04.53 set by Italy's Filippi at SC Europeans in 2008.
