Tunisian Mellouli has won the gold medal in the men's 10km race at the Olympic Games in London

LONDON - Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia has won the gold medal at the 10km event in the Serpentine lake in Hyde Park, on Friday.

He won in a time 1h49:55.1 ahead of Germany's Thomas Lurz (1h49:58.5) and Richard Weinberger of Canada (1h50:00.3).

At the 2008 Games Mellouli won Tunisia's first Olympic swimming gold medal in the men's 1500 metres freestyle becoming the first athlete to win a title both in the pool and open water event.
