LONDON - Rebecca Soni of the United States has broken the world record in the women’s 200 metres breaststroke at the Olympic Games on Wednesday.

Soni clocked 2:20.00 in the semifinals, beating the mark of 2:20.12 set by Annamay Pierse of Canada in the semifinals of the 2009 Worlds.
