Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania broke the women's 100 metres breaststroke European record in the semi-finals at the Olympic Games

LONDON - Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania broke the women's 100 metres breaststroke European record in the semi-finals at the Olympic Games on Sunday.

Meilutyte, 15, clocked one minute, 05.21 seconds to beat the 1:05.41 set by Russian Yuliya Efimova at the 2009 Worlds in Rome, when she won silver behind American Soni.
