New records in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay by Italian team, Nielsen in the backstroke and Mariya Baklakova in the freestyle

ANTWERP - Italy wins the men's 800m relay with a new championships record. The Italian quartet of Andrea Mitchel D'Arrigo, Gabriele Detti, Damiano Corapi and Riccardo Maestri clocked 7:19.56 (p.r. GBR, 7:19.98, Belgrade 2008).

SC Europeans medallist Mie Oe. Nielsen of Denmark, wins gold in the women's 50m backstroke with a new championships record of 28.51. She bettered 0.25s the mark set by Lauren Quigley of Great Britain in Belgrade last year.

In the women's 200 free semifinals, Mariya Baklakova of Russia set a new championships record of 1:58.26. The former mark of 1:59.19 was held by French Camille Radou (Prague 2009).
