With SwimNews. Ian Thorpe's comeback world cup closes with a 54.09 effort over 100m butterfly leaving the Australian in 11th place in heats in Singapore today.

Jason Dunford of Kenya led the way through to the final in 51.50 ahead of Australians Christopher Wright, 52.09, and Sam Ashby, 52.66, with world cup leader Chad Le Clos fourth through in 52.96.

The cup will move to Beijing midweek before its conclusion in Tokyo next weekend.

Thorpe will be in action at both those meets and is scheduled to race 100m free in Japan.
