Alexander Dale Oen won the men's 100 metres breaststroke title at the world swimming championships on Monday

SHANGHAI - Norway's Alexander Dale Oen won the men's 100 metres breaststroke title at the world championships tonight.

The European champion clocked 58.71 seconds in the final to beat Fabio Scozzoli of Italy who won silver in a new national record of 59.42. Third was Cameron Van Der Burgh of South Africa with 59.49.

Japan's Olympic champion Kosuke Kitajima was just 4th in 1 minute, 0.03 seconds.
