Mie Ø. Nielsen, O’Connor, Stjepanovic, Samilidis claim second title in Belgrade

BELGRADE – Denmark’s Mie Ø. Nielsen has added a gold medal to the two medals won earlier in the week at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

The swimmer from Aalborg, who has already won 50m backstroke gold and 100 freestyle silver, won the 100 backstroke at the Tasmajdan Swim Center today.

Siobhan-Marie O'Connor of Great Britain led the individual medley and takes double gold in the women's 200m and 400m events.

Velimir Stjepanovic of Serbia won his second European gold in the 100m butterfly; he won the 100 free on Friday.

Panagiotis Samilidis of Greece adds to his 50m breaststroke, the 100 breast title.

Finally, Italy claimed a second gold in the 400m medley relay. The Italian team already won the 400 free relay on day one.

Leading results at the European Junior Championships in the Tasmajdan Swim Center on Sunday, the final day of the five-day event.
