Hungary’s world champion Katinka Hosszu (Southern California) has won the NCAA title for the women’s 400-yard individual medley, at the University of Texas Jamail Swimming Center on Friday.
Hosszu, 21, clocked a time of 3:59.75 seconds,becoming the second woman in history to break the 4-minute barrier for the distance.
The American record for this event is held by Julia Smit (Stanford) with 3:58.23.
World championships bronze medallist Elizabeth Beisel (Florida) was second in 4:00.87.
