Hungary’s world champion Katinka Hosszu (Southern California) has won the NCAA title for the women’s 200-yard individual medley

Hungary’s world champion Katinka Hosszu (Southern California) has won the NCAA title for the women’s 200-yard individual medley, at the University of Texas Jamail Swimming Center on Thursday.

Hosszu, 21, clocked a time of 1:53.39 seconds, to win the Trojans' first title in the event since Kaitlin Sandeno in 2004.

The record for this event is held by Julia Smit (Stanford) with 1:52.31.

In other highlights, Estonia’s Jane Trepp (Louisiana) entered the 50-yards freestyle final with her second career sub-22 effort of 21.99 seconds.
