Former Commonwealth champion Moss Burmester of New Zealand has retired from swimming, citing a dispute with National Governing Body

WELLINGTON - Former Commonwealth champion Moss Burmester of New Zealand has retired from swimming, citing a dispute with National Governing Body.

Buermster, 29, is a butterfly specialist. He attended two Olympics and was the 200 metres butterfly gold medal winner at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Burmester now intends to enjoy his off-roading, finish his business degree, and he has another hefty goal to climb Mt Everest in 2013, althouhg his first uphill battle could be enforcing the changes he wants within the sport he still loves, he told new Zealand’s television TV3.
