Canada’s Brent Hayden beat his own record in the 100m freestyle winning gold in 47.98. He beat the mark that he set in the heats by 0.20 of second.

South African teenager Chad Le Clos set the men's 400 mertres individual medley record clocking 4:13.25 to win his second gold at this Games.

Emily Seebohm surpassed the women's 50 metres backstroke record finishing in 28.03 seconds in the semi-finals.

Finally, Rebecca Adlington of England missed out on breaking a record in the women’s 800m freestyle. She clocked 8:24.69 in victory but her time was just 0.07 off the 32-year-old mark set by Tracey Wickham in the Edmonton Games way back in 1978.
