Spanish city Barcelona was announced in Punta del Este, Uruguay on Monday to win the bid of hosting the 15th world long-course swimming championships in 2013, according to FINA officials from the Aquatic Convention.

Barcelona hosted the 2003 championships, while the 14th edition of this event will be held in Shanghai, China, July 16 – 31, 2011.
