Trickett to make comeback. Olympic champion Libby Trickett has announced her return to the pool.

Trickett, 25, retired from competitive swimming following the world champs in Rome in 2009.

Under anti-doping rules, she must now wait 9 months before she can compete under FINA rules and will therefore miss Shanghai 2011 world titles, thus she sets sight over London 2012 Olympic Games.

"I am ready to commit myself again and she how far I can take my swimming and how fast I can get. I think this year allowed me to find that fire and passion again. I realise I stil love the sport so much and I want to be able to enjoy it," said Trickett.

Triple Olympic gold medallist Stephanie Rice has undergone successful surgery on her right shoulder.

Rice, 22-year-old and winner at Beijing Olympic Games in 200m and 400m medley, and 800m free relay confirmed that the surgery was successful and will be ready for the 2012 Games.

Indian swimmers fail doping test
Three Indian swimmers were provisionally suspended for failing dope tests, Swimming Federation of India (SFI) announced Sunday.

National record holder Richa Mishra and Jyotsna Pansare, both part of India's 26-member aquatic squad for the home Games next month.

They and Amar Muralitharan tested positive for Methylhexaneamine, used as a nasal decongestant, according to SFI secretary general Virendra Nanavati said.

Turkish swimmer crosses Mediterranean Sea
Alper Sunaçoğlu, a former Turkish national swim team member, cressed the Mediterranean Sea from Turkey to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in 26 hours 15 minutes, lowering by almost 8h the record for the 75km course.
