Ukraine’s Olga Beresnyeva has won the gold medal at the European championships in the women's 25km. Italy wins Championships Trophy

BUDAPEST – Ukraine’s Olga Beresnyeva has won the gold medal at the European championships in the women's 25 kilometres, the final race of the tournament.

Beresnyeva touched after a time 5h48:10.2. Germany's Angela Maurer claimed silver finishing just 1/10 of a second behind the Ukranian champion, whereas Martina Grimaldi of Italy was third in 5h48:30.8.

With 8 medals, 2 of them gold, Italy wins the Championships Trophy having scored 189 points. Germany placed second with 137 and Russia third with 130.
