Greece wins 5km team event at Europeans

Greece has won gold in the team event at the European championships in Balaton lake, Hungary

BUDAPEST - Greece has won the 5km team event at the European championships in Budapest on Friday.

The team composed of Kalliopi Araouzou, Antonios Fokaidis and Spyridon Gianniotis finished first in 59:03.0 ahead of Italy (Rachele Bruni, Simone Ercoli, Simone Ruffini, 59:55.6) and Russia third (Sergey Bolshakov, Anna Guseva, Daniil Serebrennikov, 59:59.5).

With just two events up to the end of the open water tournament, Italy leads the Championships Trophy classification with 131 points, ahead of Germany with 113, with Greece and Russia fighting for the 3rd place with 98 and 97 points respectively.
