BUDAPEST – Italian swimmers made history at the 2010 European championships by winning all three medals in the men’s 5km open water race in Balaton lake on Thursday.

Luca Ferretti won gold in 58:43.4, Simone Ercoli was second in 59:00.5 and Simone Ruffinin tied third place with Spyridon Gianniotis of Greece, both touching in 59:15.9.
