BUDAPEST – Germany’s Thomas Lurz won the men's 10km open water competition at the European Championships in Budapest.
The 30-year-old Lurz, who recently won the 5km world title in Canada, continued the domination in the swimming marathon winning in 1h54:22.5, whereas Italy’s world champion Valerio Cleri was relegated into second place by 2.3 seconds.
Evgeny Drattsev of Russia took bronze as he crossed the finish line 4.1 seconds behind the winner.
