Kromowidjojo in Hospital

Dutch world champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo will miss the incoming European championships in Hungary after being taken to hospital, suffering from a viral meningitis.

"At the moment her condition is stable but still really painful," Dutch head coach Jacco Verhaeren told SwimNews.

Verhaeren explained that the sprinter complained of a severe headache, back and neck pain last Thursday morning, resulting in a decision to take her to hospital.

South Korea joins race for Worlds

South Korea has formally declared its intention to bid to host the 2013 World Championships. "We decided to bid for the 2013 World Championships at the request of the international swimming body, FINA," Lee Ki-heung, president of the Korea Swimming Federation (KSF) told local media.

Sydney, Australia, is also said to have reported an interest in the 2013 event.

A decision will be made in September as FINA and partners head to the international federation's first Convention aimed at planning for the future.

Wittstock, Prince Albert, tie the knot in 2011

The event will be celebrated on July 8th 2011 in in the Throne Room of Monaco's Pink Palace, while the religious ceremony will be celebrted a day later at Monaco's Notre Dame of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

Wittstock, 35, was born in Zimbabwe but represented South Africa at the Sydney Olympics and at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and again in 2002 in Manchester.
