Busy Weekend for Meets
1999-05-31

There were many meets which kept our staff busy this weekend. We should have some reports on the German meet by tomorrow. There was the Canadian Youth and Disability Champs, the US FAST Grand Prix in Gainsville, the Speedo Super Grand Prix in Sheffield U.K., and the German Championships from Lepizig.

At the Speedo Super Grand Prix in Sheffield, Sue Rolph set a British Record in the 50m freestyle with a time of 25.54. At the German Championships Thomas Ruppath swam the 2nd best ever 200 fly time of 1:57.53. The German Record is held for swimmer Micheal Gross. The time is good enough for 2nd place in the World Rankings so far this year.

Franziska van Almsick did not perform well and only qualified for the European Champs in the 100 free. We have been told that she may be suffering from the flu.
