Backstroke Champion Passes Away

Masaji Kiyokawa was the Olympic backstroke champion in 1932. He also severed as FINA Honorary Secretary 1964-1968 and currently a FINA Honorary member. He died on April 8 at the age of 86. He was also a member of the IOC and a Vice President of the IOC from 1979-1983. He was in Atlanta and presented the medals for the mens 100 backstroke and joined gold medallist Jeff Rouse on the podium to celebarte. He won the 100 backstroke event at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics in a time of 1:08.6.
