Records Fall At U.S. Open

COLLEGE STATION - Fredrik de Burghgraeve of Belgium broke his own World Record in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 58.79 at the U.S. Open.

Josh Davis set 2 American Records one in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.66 breaking the previous record of 1:57.47 held by Ron Karnaugh. The second in the 200m Freestyle with a time of 1:45.24.

Sabir Muhammad set an American Record in the 100m Butterfly with a time of 52.42

Megan Quann of Puyallup Aquatics set 3 American Records, in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:25.52 and the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.41. Her 50m split of 31.86 in the first half of the 100m race was enough to take the the 50m Breaststroke Record as well. The 100m record previously held by Tracy Caulkins, had stood for 17 years.

Other women's records were set by Natalie Coughlin with an American Record in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:07.46 and Ashley Tappin who set a 50m Freestyle Record with a time of 24.78.
